It prevents the enzyme inhibition by NADPH and forms an additional pathway of benzoquinone reduction presumably via reduced adrenodoxin. Adrenodoxin decreases the affinity of the enzyme for NADPH by a limiting factor of 3 and NADP+ decreases the enzyme affinity for adrenodoxin
