DNA fragment RPS + S-adenosyl-L-methionine RPS is a repetitive hypermethylated DNA fragment from Petunia hybrida. CG methylation, CNG methylation, and CNN methylation. MET1 maintains CG methylation, and DRM1/2 and CMT3 act redundantly to enforce non-CG methylation, unusual cooperative activity of all three DNA methyltransferases is therefore required for maintenance of both CG and non-CG methylation in RPS. Arabidopsis thaliana does not contain any RPS homologues. Methylation at the CCmTGG site also requires DRM1/2, MET1, and, to a lesser extent, CMT3 Arabidopsis thaliana DNA fragment RPS containing 5-methylcytosine + S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine
