Methanococcus maripaludis in the culture, H2 plus CO2 gas is replaced with N2 plus CO2 gas after 1.7 days in an attempt to induce glycogen mobilization. This attempt was unsuccessful, because the glycogen content is unchanged. The specific activity of 6-phosphofructokinase increases 2- to 2.5-fold. This result suggests that changes in the levels of 6-phosphofructokinase alone are insufficient to affect glycogen mobilization up
