methanethiol:NAD+ oxidoreductase (dimethyl disulfide-forming)
The enzyme's activity has been demonstrated in the bacterium Thiobacillus thioparus E6. The methanethiol formed is eventually oxidized to sulfate and carbon dioxide, and the latter assimilated for autotrophic growth.
