oligomer protochlorophyllide binding triggers formation of large oligomers of the enzyme (POR). Oligomer formation is most likely driven by the interaction of amino acid residues in the highly conserved lid regions. The lid residues position protochlorophyllide optimally to enable photocatalysis.
