LITERATURE
physiological function
in HNMT knockout mice, HNMT deficiency enhances brain histamine concentrations. The mice exhibit highly aggressive behaviours in the resident-intruder and aggressive biting behaviour tests. Aggression is suppressed by treatment with zolantidine, a histamine H2 receptor (H2R) antagonist. Knockout mice exhibit prolonged bouts of awakening during the light (inactive) period and compensatorysleep during the dark (active) period. Abnormal sleep behaviour is suppressed by treatment with pyrilamine, a H1R antagonist, prior to light period
